Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of polishlineage.com (the "Site") and the services described on it. By using the Site or submitting a form, you agree to these Terms.
1. About us
Polish Lineage is the practice of Małgorzata Schneider, attorney at law (radca prawny) registered with the Regional Bar Chamber of Legal Advisers in Gdańsk, ul. Starowiejska 16/2, 81-356 Gdynia, Poland, practising in accordance with Polish law and the professional rules of that Bar. We are not licensed to practise law in the United States or Canada and do not advise on US or Canadian law.
2. Information on the Site is not legal advice
Content on the Site is general information about Polish citizenship by descent. It is not legal advice and does not create an attorney–client relationship. Every case depends on specific facts and documents.
3. Free preliminary assessment
When you submit our form, we review the information you provide and reply with a free, preliminary view of whether your family line appears promising. This is an informal indication based only on what you tell us. It is not a legal opinion, does not guarantee eligibility or any outcome, and does not create an attorney–client relationship.
4. Engagement
An attorney–client relationship is formed only when a written engagement agreement is signed by both parties. The scope of work, fees, payment terms, and each party's responsibilities are set out in that agreement, which takes precedence over these Terms where they differ.
5. Fees and payments
Fees are quoted in US dollars and set out in the engagement agreement. Payments are processed by Stripe. External costs (archive fees, official fees, certified translations, apostilles, courier services) are billed at cost and only with your prior approval. Paid assessments are non-refundable once the work has been delivered.
6. No guarantee of outcome
Decisions on citizenship are made by the Polish authorities. We cannot guarantee that an application will be successful, that records will be found, or that the authorities will decide within any particular time. Processing times quoted on the Site are estimates based on current experience and may change.
7. Your responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate and complete information, to tell us promptly about any changes, and to obtain documents that only you can request (for example, US or Canadian vital records) when we ask you to.
8. Confidentiality and privacy
Information you share with us is treated as confidential and used as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Intellectual property
The Site's content, text and design belong to Polish Lineage or its licensors. You may view and print pages for personal use; other use requires our written permission.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Polish Lineage is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the Site or reliance on its general information. Liability for services provided under an engagement agreement is governed by that agreement and the applicable rules of professional liability for Polish attorneys at law, including mandatory professional liability insurance.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Poland. Any dispute relating to the Site or these Terms will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Polish courts, unless the engagement agreement provides otherwise.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
